FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What if I have to cancel or change my appointment?

We ask that you call our office and give at least 24 hours notice to cancel or change your appointment. You may leave a message on our voicemail if it is after hours.

What should I bring to my first appointment?

Please bring your completed paperwork (click on FORMS at top of page), prescription, insurance card(s), and picture ID.

What should I wear?

Please wear or bring comfortable, nonrestrictive clothing or athletic wear. Your clothes should allow us to evaluate your area of injury, so please dress accordingly. As for footwear, we suggest comfortable, closed-toe shoes, preferably sneakers.

How long does each visit take?

Visits are generally about 45 minutes, but the actual time will depend on the diagnosis and individual case. The initial visit takes a little longer than the subsequent visits due to paperwork that needs to be completed and due to the evaluation by a physical therapist.

How long will I need physical therapy?

You will need to attend physical therapy sessions until you and your therapist decide that you have reached your desired level of function or that further therapy would not be beneficial. Often therapy will also be monitored by your physician.

When should I start seeing improvement?

Again that depends on the same factors associated with how long you will be in physical therapy. Improvement will also depend on regular attendance of your physical therapy appointments and on regular performance of your prescribed home exercise program. If at any point you feel like you are not progressing at a satisfactory rate, we will collaborate with you and modify your treatment plan. We will always monitor your progress.

Will you keep in contact with my doctor?

After your initial visit, we will fax the initial evaluation to your doctor along with progress notes at regular intervals.

Do I need a physician's referral for physical therapy?

Most insurance companies will require that you get a physician's referral for physical therapy.
